Marketing the War

The good thing about the War on Iraq being basically scheduled as “Coming Soon” means that the networks have plenty of time to come up with their catchy titles and logos. So, instead of an impromtu “America at War” or last-minute “Iraq Attack!” they have time to really work out the best possible titles to one up the other networks.

I, of course, have a modest proposal. “Gulf War II.” See, it abbreviates to “GWII” which is reminiscent of “WWII” and will make this generation feel like they are doing something as important as they did in the 40’s. And it also doubles as shorthand for “George W. II.” And, really, isn’t that what this war is really all about?
