It’s June 4th. When I lived in New Hampshire, it was usually either a heat wave or getting pretty close to it. I remember early Junes where it was just miserable and sweltering. At the very least, it was sunny and pleasant. Last year at this time, DC was an inferno and we were all dying from the incredible heat (last summer turned out to be the 3rd hottest on record for this area since 1840 or so).
Here in DC, it’s been rainy, cold, and just plain depressing. Ann, Jack and I are all sick (Jack is, by far, the worst off: he actually has little red spots all over his face which are the result of blood vessels rupturing from his over-the-top coughing. He’s already been to the doctor once and will likely be going back tomorrow. Ann and I have been taking turns sleeping today and I fully expect tomorrow to be more of the same.
Now, I’m not saying I necessarily want the heat waves, but a little sun would be nice. Ironically, the weather report for tomorrow looks actually pretty good. Too bad I’ll be too sick to enjoy it. I’m sure that by the time I’m well again, it will be raining.
